Kangentic Mobile is live on the App Store for iOS and headed to Google Play. Here is where each platform stands and how to install it where you can.

The iOS app is live. Install it from the App Store, then come back for pairing:

Android testing is open to anyone who wants in, but it runs as a Play closed test, which means Google Play only shows the app to accounts on the tester list. Joining the testers group is what puts you on that list, so the order of these two steps matters.

  1. Join the testers Google Group.

Anyone can join and there is no approval step. The group’s members are the tester list itself, which is why this comes first: the opt-in page in step 2 shows a “not found” error for accounts that are not on it yet.

  2. Become a tester on Google Play, then install.

Open the link, accept the testing invitation, and follow it through to the Play Store listing to install the app.

Reading this at your desk? Open this page on your phone to tap through. Both links need the browser and Play Store on the device you are installing to.

The app is a remote control for a desktop you already run, so it does nothing until the two are paired. On the desktop, turn on Mobile Bridge in Settings > Mobile Devices, click Pair a device, and scan the QR code with the app.

The bridge is off by default, and pairing ends with a six-digit code you compare on both screens. Pairing a Phone walks through the whole flow, including what to do when the phone cannot use its camera.
